Certification and Product Testing
International Certification
SilexSolar have been internationally certified by TÜV Rheinland Japan Ltd.

The following PV Modules of
Silex Solar Pty Ltd. were tested by
TÜV Rheinland Japan Ltd.
SLXxxx; xxx = 165, 170, 175, 180,
185 and 190
according to the following standards:
• IEC 61730-1: Requirements for construction and
•IEC 61730-2: Photovoltaic module safety qualification – Requirements for testing
• IEC 61215: Crystalline silicon terrestrial
photovoltaic modules – Design qualification and type approval
The test procedure comprises two major aspects:
1. Sample testing:
The accredited laboratory of TÜV Rheinland runs product tests on selected test samples to verify that these samples are in accordance with the relevant standards and requirements.
| The testing includes among other features: |
| • Hail Test |
• Hot-spot endurance test |
| • UV-exposure test |
• Cut susceptibility test |
| • Damp-heat test |
• Humidity-freeze test |
| • Mechanical load test |
• Module breakage test |
| In addition, the modules are qualified to withstand heavy accumulation of snow and ice. |
2. Periodic inspection:
TÜV Rheinland experts perform periodic quality and production control at the manufacturing site(s) to ensure that all produced PV modules are manufactured with the same materials, using the same processes and at the same quality level as the laboratory tested samples.
Quality & Material Audit Assurance Confirmed
In May 2010, TÜV Rheinland assessors visited the Sydney Olympic Park facility and undertook their annual Factory Inspection Certification. This recertification consists of completing detailed audits and verification of SilexSolar’s:
· Management systems
· Raw materials provenance
· Supply chain management
· Manufacturing process control
· Overall product quality
The assessment is about insuring the quality standards presented in the test sample solar panels used originally for IEC61215 and IEC61730 certification by TUV Rheinland have been consistently upheld.
