SilexSolar was established on 29th June 2009 after Silex Systems Ltd acquired the manufacturing assets and equipment of the Sydney Olympic Park (SOP) Solar manufacturing facility from BP Solar Pty Ltd.

Acquisition of Solar Systems Group Assets

Silex Systems Ltd (Silex) announced on the 16th March 2010 that it has completed the acquisition of the assets of Melbourne based Solar Systems Group (SSG). The assets have been acquired in a wholly owned subsidiary of Silex Systems. view announcement

SilexSolar Mission

  • PV manufacturer of world class panels on a commercial scale
  • Market product from small scale domestic to large scale commercial and utility sectors
  • Optimise conventional mono-crystalline processes to produce PV cells in commercial quantities and at low cost with conversion efficiencies of 17% or better by mid of 2010.
  • Thereafter to develop and implement advanced mono-silicon processing to achieve conversion efficiencies in  excess of 20%, in commercial quantities and at low cost.

Dr Michael Goldsworthy BSc(Hons) MSc PhD FAIP
Managing Director/CEO (Executive Director)

Dr Goldsworthy received his PhD in Physics from The University of New South Wales. Prior to starting Silex Systems Limited in 1988, Dr Goldsworthy was a member of the University's academic staff and was involved in a number of laser-associated research projects. Dr Goldsworthy is the founder of the Company and has been the driving force behind the SILEX Uranium technology, and the establishment of the group's extensive interests in solar, semiconductor and photonics technologies.

Mr Christopher Wilks BComm ASA FCIS FCIM FAICD
(Executive Director)

Mr Wilks is responsible for financial oversight and corporate development of Silex. Mr Wilks has a background in chartered accounting and investment banking. He was previously a partner in a private investment bank and has held positions on the board of a number of public companies. He is also an executive director of Sonic Healthcare Limited.
